Jo Conrad of Dodge has been named a National Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award for 2008 and Sandy Dorn of Lincoln will receive an American Farm Bureau 2008 White/Reinhardt Education scholarships.
“These honors clearly show how Nebraska teachers use agriculture to get their students excited about learning and how they incorporate agriculture in their curriculum,” Ellen Hellerich, state Agriculture in the Classroom coordinator said May 27.
Conrad teaches third and fourth grade at Dodge Public Elementary School in Dodge, Neb. She is one of five teachers nationwide who were selected for the teaching award. She receives $1,500 for travel expenses to the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Costa Mesa, Calf., June 24-28, and a $500 honorarium.
Dorn teaches fourth grade at Meadowlane Elementary School in Lincoln. As a White/Reinhardt scholarship winner, she receives $1,200 to support attendance at the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference.
The Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Teachers of the Year are chosen and honored by Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Ag Promotion Committee and the Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom program.
