September is National Honey Month

But, more popular uses include: in beverages as a sweetener; various food toppings; it’s a substitute for sugar; and did you know honey is used in a wide variety of beauty products. Also, for centuries, honey has been used as a home remedy to help alleviate some of the symptoms associated with a common cold. A recent NHB-funded study offers scientific evidence that honey is an effective cough treatment.
Still, the bee industry continues to work on finding out what caused Colony Collapse Disorder, which because a problem during 2007. The National Honey Board has funded a project that focused on developing a new delivery method for treatment of Varroa mites. The study looked for and found natural alternatives to using pesticides.
