BioPreferred Program Expanded
Published Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 04:57 AM
The U.S. Government’s BioPreferred Program has added more than 24-hundred biobased products from more than 500 companies to its procurement preference program. These products are now available for procurement by federal agencies and their contractors. There are now a total of 2,741 products from 659 companies that are qualified for preferred procurement under the BioPreferred Program.

Agriculture Chief Economist Joseph Glauber says - the BioPreferred Program has now reached a critical mass. Glauber adds - I expect a marked increase in Federal purchases of qualifying biobased products by Federal agencies and their contractors. More designations of biobased products are being processed.

Manufacturers and venders can post information about their authorized biobased products on the BioPreferred electronic catalog located at http://www.biopreferred.gov/Catalog.aspx. Federal agencies are being invited to go to the same Web site to view product and contact information on qualified biobased products.
