Five minutes of your time could equal thousands of dollars for your community. Nebraska farmers have until Friday, July 30th to register to win 25-hundred dollars for their favorite non-profit organization. The funding is available through Monsanto Fund's America's Farmers Grow Communities Project.
Customer Outreach Lead for Monsanto Linda Arnold says the concept of the program came from a farmer. Arnold says he was saying it's tough out in rural America and we have a lot of organizations that really need support. So the Monsanto Fund wanted to give back to rural america and local communities.
One winner will be drawn from each of Nebraska's 71 elgible counties. The program is being offered in select counties in Nebraska and six other states. To be elgible farmers must be 21 years of age and farm 250 acres of corn or soybeans. Farmers can register online at http://www.growcommunities.com or by calling 1 - 877 - 267 - 3332. The registration deadline is Friday, July 30th.
The Monsanto Fund will lauch a nationwide effort August 31st. This will expand the program to 12 - hundred counites, representing 95 percent of the total corn, soybean and cotton acreage in the United States.
