NFU Urges Congress to Help Independent Livestock Producers
Published Thursday, July 03, 2008 at 04:46 AM
The National Farmers Union Board of Directors is calling on Congress to take action to help independent livestock producers struggling with higher production prices. The board would also like to see relief for the less fortunate to confront the rising costs of food and high heating costs this winter.

The board voices a willingness to work with Congress to find solutions to the challenges caused by skyrocketing energy costs. And recognizing that budget resources are limited - as well as pay-go rules - the board suggests offsetting or reducing tax incentives to large oil and gas entities in order to provide this assistance.
