Five specialty crop groups get state grants

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Five ag groups have received a total of more than $100,000 from the state to help diversify the ag economy. The grants are aimed at helping develop specialty crops. Projects receiving the money include those aimed at marketing Nebraska fruits and vegetables, increasing plant health of dry beans, and identifying market opportunities for hazelnuts. Others were for producing a new magazine and promotions for nursery and landscape businesses, and another helping a potato organization received the money. State ag director Greg Ibach (eye-BAH) says each of the projects will help improve rural Nebraska.
