Ground Beef Recall Expanded
Published Thursday, July 03, 2008 at 04:52 AM
Kroger Company has expanded its voluntary recall of all ground beef products sold in Michigan and certain Ohio stores between May 21 and June 8th. The meat had been linked to recent outbreaks of E. coli bacteria. The recall now includes ground beef products in Styrofoam tray packages wrapped in clear cellophane or purchased from an in-store service counter from certain stores.

The expanded recall comes after the U.S. Department of Agriculture informed the company that Nebraska Beef had been identified as the supplier of ground beef products linked to E. coli illnesses in Michigan and central and northern Ohio.
