Farmer's Coop Elevator has record year
Published Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 04:25 PM
Clark says the Farmer’s Coop Elevator realized record sales of $95.5 million, record net savings of over $4.4 million, and record patronage of over $3.6 million. Clark says he attributes the success to dedicated patrons and hard-working employees.
Clark says members can expect to receive their patronage checks sometime in June. During his report to the members, Clark listed several areas of focus for the Cooperative. With investments of over $1 million last year, Clark says that the company continues to upgrade equipment and facilities, and he points to a new state-of-the-art CompuWeight scale system built in Hemingford that will increase efficiency during the 2009 wheat harvest.
One of the low points for the coop during 2008 was a December 4 fire that destroyed an old wooden elevator and office complex in Hemingford. Clark says the destroyed area will not have a negative impact on the 2009 harvest.
Tom Marcy of Hay Springs has been reelected as chairman of the board, Mike Strasburger of Ellsworth was reelected as vice-chairman, and Michael Collins of Alliance was reelected as board secretary.
