Congressman Adrian Smith

The long stalled US - South Korea Free Trade Agreement is getting revived. 3rd District Congressman Adrian Smith says the agreement is moving forward.

He is encourage that President Obama has said he supports the trade agreement. Smith says he hopes he will send the bill to the capitol for a up or down vote in the House and Senate and then hopefully the President will sign that agreement.

South Korea has been a major beef export market. Smith says today US beef faces a 40 percent tariff going into South Korea and a new trade agreement could reduce that to zero. Smith says an agreement could eventually alleviate South Korea's BSE concerns with American beef. Other US industries would also benefit from broader trade with South Korea....the 14th largest economy in the world.
