
Eunice Schmidt, age 82 of West Point, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the West Point Living Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 3rd, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in West Point. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 2nd, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hour or St. Paul radio broadcasts. Stokely Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Eunice Anna was born to Carl and Adele (Tonjes) Schmidt, February 5, 1928, in West Point. She grew up on a farm four miles west of Bancroft and attended Zion Lutheran Church and School. Eunice moved with her family to West Point in 1944. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the St. Paul Ladies Aid. Eunice was employed for several years at the West Point Hotel and for 25 years at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Survivors include sister Fern (Erwin) Knocke of Arkansas City, Kansas; brother Pastor Karl (Shirley) Schmidt of Macon, Georgia; brother-in-law Gerhard Broekemeier of West Point; three nephews, five nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mae, and one niece.
