
Mary Ann Liibbe, age 81 of Beemer, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, March 11h, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, with Reverend David List officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, March 10th, with family present from 5:00-7:00pm, at Stokely Funeral Home. Stokely Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ann was born June 11, 1928 at Beemer to Adolph and Lydia Ott Fullner. She was raised on the farm and attended St. John’s Lutheran school rural Beemer. In the early years, Mary Ann worked for area families helping with household chores and child rearing. On June 12, 1955, Mary Ann married Leland Liibbe at St. Jon’s Lutheran Church, rural Beemer. The couple lived West Point where Mary Ann was a homemaker and did babysitting for several families thru the years. In August 2003 they moved to Colonial Haven in Beemer. Mary Ann was a former long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and LWML in West Point and a current member of St. John’s Lutheran in Beemer. Mary Ann enjoyed her garden and canning but will be most remembered for the wonderful care she gave to those around her. Survivors include son Allen (Marie) Liibbe of Kearney, daughters Janet (Greg) Young of Sioux City, IA, Rita (Don) Shirley of Littleton, CO, Lois (Jeff) Johnson of Underwood, IA and Karen (Mike) Lofink of Orange, CA, 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and brother Dave (Jerri) Fullner of Wisner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leland, August 14, 2008, daughters Nancy and Doris Liibbe, brothers Myron and Alwin Fuller and sister Helen Stark.
