Doris F. Johnson, age 90 of Fremont, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Merrick Manor in Fremont. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, February 3rd, at Salem Lutheran Church, with Reverend Michael Thomas officiating. Committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00PM, Tuesday, February 2nd, with the family present from 6:00-8:00PM, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Visitation will continue Wednesday, one hour prior to service, at the church. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church. Ludvigsen Mortuary of Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born in Cuming County near West Point, NE on December 25, 1919. Her parents were Boyd and Ida (Prawitz) Flores. She grew up there, graduating from West Point High School with honors in 1937. Then she taught in rural schools in Cuming County. On June 29, 1941 Doris was married to Stanley E. Johnson in Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. They had lived in Los Angeles, CA, then in Dodge, NE for 2½ years and Snyder, NE for 2½ years, moving to Fremont in 1952. They remained in Fremont, building their present home in 1956. Her husband Stan, retired from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a freight agent in 1981 after 34 years with the railroad. Doris had worked for Schweser’s in downtown Fremont for 8 years. Doris was a member of Salem Lutheran Church since 1952. She taught Sunday School and vacation Bible School there. She was active in Salem’s WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church) where she held various offices. Doris and Stan were avid square dancers, and taught square dancing for 25 years. She enjoyed playing golf, she belonged to 3 card clubs for many years, she liked reading, crocheting and knitting, and for years she sewed her own clothes as well as sewing for friends. She also was a gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband Stan in January of 1995, by her twin sister Dorothy Hiatt, a brother Earl Flores and a sister-in-law Dorothy Flores. Doris is survived by 3 sons, Roger (Darlene) Johnson of Centennial, CO, Darryl (Patti) Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ, Mark (Michele) Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gordon Flores of Loveland, CO, Leigh (Lois) Flores of Scribner; sister-in-law, Anna Louise Flores of West Point; brother-in-law, Carl Hiatt of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews.
