Governor Heineman Introduces Mike Johanns

Republican Senate candidate Mike Johanns says voters will have a true choice when it comes to the issues when they consider whether to vote for him or Democrat Scott Kleeb in November. Johanns, stopping in Scottsbluff as part of a statewide tour of the state following Tuesday's primary election, said he and Kleeb have "Grand Canyon like differences" on the major topics of the day.

Johanns says he is the only pro-life candidate in the Senate race, he has spoken strongly in favor of continuing the Administration's tax cuts, he does not favor a national health care plan as Kleeb does, and he supports the current military policy in Iraq. While saying it would be a last minute decision on whether he would vote to support the current Farm Bill proposal before Congress, Johanns said he worried the legislation shifted more of its emphasis to urban America and would be "a step backward" for producers from the 2002 Farm bill.
