Fremont Foster mom pleads in child abuse case

A Fremont woman accused of using a back scratcher to beat teenagers she is the legal guardian for entered into a plea agreement Monday in Dodge County District Court.

Polly Sims, 43, pleaded no contest to one count of child abuse, a Class IIIA felony. In exchange for her plea, a second identical count was dismissed.

Sims, a foster parent for the state of Nebraska who was the legal guardian for the teenagers living with her, admitted to deputies she had spanked the children and turned over the back scratcher as evidence.

A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for May 19.
