2 NE Trials Set For May

Trials for two Northeast Nebraska residents are now set for May in Madison County District court. Lucas Nygren, 20, of Newman Grove is accused of manslaughter in the death of 45-year-old Rikki Becher, also of Newman Grove. Becher died of blunt trauma to the spine close to the skull after a fight broke out at a party last October. He could serve 20 years in prison if convicted. Tammy Walnofer, 38, of Norfolk is charged with first-degree sexual assault for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a male teen that was 15 at the time and Walnofer 35. She could get a maximum penalty of 50 years in jail. Or a minimum penalty of one year. Both cases were delayed to May 1 for pre-trial conference with a jury trial set for May 5.
