Iowa mans death ruled homicide

The Iowa state medical examiners office has declared Michael Rubergs death a homicide. The 41 year-old Dakota City man was found unconscious in the street on the 100 block of South Third Street in Rutland Sunday morning. Witnesses at the scene said he had been in a fight with another person. John Kraemer, director of forensic operations at the medical examiners office, said Rubergs death was caused by blunt trauma to his head and neck. Humboldt County sheriff s office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Humboldt County attorneys office are investigating the case.
