Huge fire near Battle Creek on Tuesday
Published Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 01:22 PM
Fire crews battled a massive grass fire south of Battle Creek, Nebraska. Hundreds of acres are left scorched. Big plumes of smoke could be seen more than ten miles away this afternoon. Strong south winds fueled the flames which consumed up to 300 acres of Ag and Crop land. Firefighters from several departments were called to help. Even local farmers lent a hand by discing the charred land to help prevent it from spreading. While the exact cause is still not known, witnesses at the scene say it may have started near a barn which was part of a controlled burn a few days ago
