Neb. to apply for more stimulus dollars

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Gov. Dave Heineman has announced that the state is applying for more federal-stimulus dollars for five roads' projects. The state will try to get some of the $1.5 billion available nationally through a competitive grant process. The money is part of the $787 billion federal-stimulus package. The five projects with a combined cost of about $280 million include: _ Expanding U.S. Highway 75 to four lanes from from Plattsmouth to Bellevue _ Resurfacing Interstate 80 from Roscoe to Paxton _ Expanding a portion of Interstate 80 outside Lincoln to six lanes _ Expanding a portion of Nebraska Highway 133 in Douglas and Washington Counties _ Expanding Nebraska Highway 370 to four lanes between Gretna and Interstate 80 in Sarpy County. ____ On the Net: Nebraska Department of Roads: http://www.dor.state.ne.us/
