LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska officials are preparing nine birthday parties for the state this month. Secretary of State John Gale, the NEBRASKAland Foundation and the Nebraska Humanities Council are organizing the parties, which are aimed at fourth- and fifth-grade students. The parties are scheduled for Feb. 23-27 and will be held in Boys Town, Columbus, Fremont, Hastings, Kearney, Nebraska City, Norfolk, Omaha and Seward. There will be musical entertainment, sing-a-longs, birthday treats and people in historical costumes. Gale will appear in costume as the character ``Cactus Jack.''
