Tornadoes touch down in two Nebraska counties

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) _ The National Weather Service says two tornadoes reported in southwest Nebraska were actually landspouts. Forecaster Kenny Roberg said Tuesday the service issued a tornado warning Monday afternoon when a tornado was reported near Grant, 15 miles south of Big Springs, in Perkins County. Roberg says a trained spotter reported a second tornado on the ground in Keith County near Ogallala. Roberg says the unusual funnels fall into the same category as tornadoes. They also have updrafts, but landspouts are relatively weak, have less rotation and are not associated with thunderstorms. The weather service says both landspouts lasted for about 15 minutes. No damage or injuries have been reported. ___ On the Net: National Weather Service Central Region Headquarters: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/crh/
