Several Fire Departments Assist In Gosper Co. Grass Fire

Firemen from several communities assisted the Elwood Fire Department is getting control of a pasture fire Monday evening. Elwood Fire Chief Kern Gydesen says firemen were paged around 7:15pm but, they soon put out a call for assistance from fire departments in Bertrand, Arapahoe, Eustis and Lexington. He estimates about 300 acres of pasture were burned along with one of their grass rigs. Gydesen says the grass rig dropped into a ravine and they weren't able to get it out before the fire engulfed it. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
