Nebraska pipeline project in hands of regulators

v LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ The fate of a roughly $100 million natural gas pipeline is in the hands of state regulators. The Nebraska Public Service Commission held a hearing on the proposed pipeline that would run from Clay Center to Columbus, and then to Norfolk. Last summer, an inadequate supply of natural gas caused developers to abandon plans for a soybean processing plant in Norfolk. A few concerns have been expressed about the proposal. Those have mostly come from competitors of Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Seminole Energy Group. A Seminole subsidiary wants to build the pipeline. The Nebraska PSC decided last year that it, not federal officials, would regulate pipeline projects that start and end within the state's borders. ____
