The Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles will be the scene this afternoon(THUR) for the send-off reception and ceremony for 26 World War II veterans and their escorts who will be going to Washington D.C. to view the World War II Memorial. The trip is coordinated by the Dawson Area Development Leadership Class. Joyce Kolbo of Gothenburg, says they invite everyone to attend the send-off between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. A meal, by free-will donation, will be served at 5:00pm followed by the ceremony at 6:0pm. Following the ceremony, the veterans and their escorts will board a charter bus which will take them to Denver for an overnight stay before flying out tomorrow(FRI) morning. Kolbo says people are invited to cheer the vets as their bus makes it's way through the downtowns of Lexington, Cozad and Gothenburg as they depart the area. Besides the Memorial, they will have lunch at the Army/Navy Club, lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other places of interest and return on Sunday.
