The Scottsbluff Jaycees are taking donations for their annual 4th of July fireworks show at Western Nebraska Community College. Jaycees President Tracy Ford says the display, which will began around 9:20 p.m. Friday, will cost around $10,000 this year. Ford says fireworks prices increased around eight percent due to a factory explosion in China.
Ford says he received $1,600 when he went to the post office today (Tuesday). Ford said he was late sending out donation letters because of changes in the way the state renews pyrotechnic training certificates. The problem forced Alliance to move their show up to July 3rd to make sure they had a certified technician from Scottsbluff at their display. Donations for this year's Scottsbluff show, which will be held Friday evening July 4th, can be made by mailing the Scottsbluff Jaycees, P.O. Box 271, Scottsbluff 69363
Ford says the show will be done electronically and take from twenty five to thirty minutes to complete.
