A woman who suffered a gun shoot wound to the abdomen near Overton Thursday afternoon remains a patient at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, according to the Dawson County Sheriff's Office. She's been identified as 33-year-old Sandra Jindra of rural Overton. Law enforcement responded to her residence about 4 miles southeast of Overton around 4:20pm Thursday. Investigative Sgt. Cheri Saunders says the preliminary investigation indicates that she was alone and inside a residence at the time of the shooting. Investigators were being assisted by the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol.

Law enforcement converged on a rural residence about 4 miles southeast of Overton Thursday afternoon in response to a shooting. Dawson County Sheriff's Sgt. Cheri Saunders says a call for help came in at 4:20pm. A female was shot in the stomach and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Her condition was not available.
Sgt. Saunders says the preliminary investigation indicates that the female was alone and inside a residence at the time of the shooting but, they had little information on the apparent shooter. As of early Thursday evening, Saunders said they did not have anyone in custody. Investigators were being assisted by the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol.
