Neb. school wins $100,000 in nationwide contest

HUMPHREY, Neb. (AP) — A private school in Humphrey has won $100,000 in a nationwide contest.

Humphrey St. Francis was among 10 winners in the 2009 Calling All Communities campaign sponsored by U.S. Cellular.

More than 120,000 votes were cast for favorite school in the six-week contest held during the holiday season. The top 10 schools each won $100,000.

Humphrey St. Francis came in fifth out of 6,500 schools.

The junior-senior high school is operated by the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Humphrey.
