UNDATED (AP) _ The Colorado Rockies have shut down their top pitcher, placing Jeff Francis on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation. Francis underwent an MRI today after experiencing pain during some warmup pitches late in recent games. He's just 3-and-7 with a 5.67 ERA this year after going 17-and-9 with a 4.22 earned run average for the NL pennant-winners. Oakland's Eric Chavez is on the disabled list for the second time this season. The six-time Gold Glove winner has a sore right shoulder that has caused the A's to recall infielder Wes Bankston from Triple-A Sacramento. Chavez didn't make his season debut until May 29th due to back and shoulder surgeries. The Pittsburgh Pirates will be without closer Matt Capps for about eight weeks because of bursitis and shoulder tightness. Capps blew save chances in the first two games of the Bus' series at Cincinnati before flying back to Pittsburgh for an MRI. He becomes the fourth Pirates hurler to go on the disabled list in the last two weeks.
