LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Lincoln voters will be asked in May whether they're willing to pay for a new arena to replace Pershing Center. The City Council voted 6-0 Monday to put a funding proposal for $25 million on the May 11 primary election ballot. A draft of the arena agreement between the city and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says the rest of the $344 million cost would come from donations, rent, a $1 game ticket surcharge and entertainment and sales taxes. The project would be built on the northwest side of the downtown Haymarket area. The new arena is projected to open in September 2013. It would become home to the Nebraska men's and women's basketball teams, which would move from the UNL campus's Devaney Center, their home since 1976. ___ Information from: Lincoln Journal Star, http://www.journalstar.com
